More news from Baylor

Update on my life: I got into Baylor grad school also, which means I'm still in the running for MD/PhD. I'm going to their 2nd round interview (called "Candidate Review") in the beginning of April to get wined and dined and visit a ton of professors. Should be fun...

Valentine's Day

Happy V-day, everyone! I didn't end up doing anything fun/interesting today because I'm getting over this flu that I conveniently got after coming home. I blame the flight back from LA- they made us sit in the plane for an hour without the air circulating, while they were waiting for our pilots to arrive (they hadn't even LANDED yet!!! I hate LAX...). Anyways, Matt and I are planning on going out to one of our favorite restaurants on either Friday or Sunday night, or we'll probably get lazy and not go, and then the next random time we go out to dinner we can say "hey, this is for Valentine's day." I think Valentine's day is sort of hyped up because most normal couples (especially ones that have been going out for more than a year) don't celebrate much.

Also, Saturday is Chinese New Year. We're going back home for dinner, and that should be exciting.

Yay!

I got into Baylor med school!
This means that my MD/PhD application will be forwarded to the graduate school, and if they let me in, I'm about 99% in to the MSTP (Medical Scientist Training Program)! However, I was mostly worried about my medical school acceptance, and am decently confident that the reason I got in was due to some people in the graduate school that really wanted me to come work in their labs. So, I would be surprised if I didn't get into the grad school as well. This is exciting.

As an update, I just got back from Yale and UCLA (both MD/PhD interviews). I have to say that I LOVED Yale and very much hope to get in. I remember being struck by Yale when I was applying for undergrad, and going back to New Haven renewed my enthusiasm. The school is beautiful, the students are happy, the faculty is amazing, and I would love to go there. UCLA was also a great place, maybe not as appealing since it's in California (and I have a vague idea that I want to leave CA for awhile), but that's not to say I wouldn't be on top of the world if I got into that school also.

So, now that I've gotten my 2nd acceptance, I feel pretty good. I would be totally happy going to any of these places, and can't wait to hear back from more...

Where have I been?

Sunday though Tuesday, I was travelling to/from Yale for an MSTP interview. I'm leaving again tonight for an interview tomorrow at UCLA (also MSTP). Hopefully I'll be able to keep up this energy level for a little while longer...
Afterwards, don't expect to see me for awhile since I'm going to be making up the ridiculous amounts of work I put off to do interviews.
